The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Adam Eaton on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring on Thursday.
The move is retroactive to Tuesday.
Eaton, 32, is a career .278 hitter, but he has struggled to find his swing this season. In 54 games, he is batting .195 with seven doubles, two triples, five home runs and 27 RBIs. He has scored 30 runs and struck out 51 times.
In a corresponding move, the White Sox recalled right-hander Zack Burdi from Triple-A Charlotte. Burdi was the No. 26 overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft.
He appeared in one game for the White Sox this season, an April 19 outing in which he allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits with three strikeouts in three innings in an 11-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox.
Burdi, 26, has made nine relief appearances for Charlotte and is 0-2 with a 5.59 ERA. He has struck out 13 in 9 2/3 innings.
The White Sox, who are tied with the San Francisco Giants for the best record in the major leagues (43-25), open a four-game series Thursday night in Houston against the Astros.
