The Houston Astros added Marwin Gonzalez to their World Series roster, subbing him in for injured outfielder Jake Meyers on Tuesday.
Gonzalez was omitted from the roster for the first two rounds of the postseason.
Houston's 13-man pitching staff is the same as it was for the American League Championship Series.
Meyers injured his shoulder in Game 4 of the American League Division Series after running into the wall trying to snatch a home run away from Chicago's Gavin Sheets. Meyers did not see action again, including the ALCS against Boston. He was hitting .375 with two RBIs in the ALDS at the time of his injury.
Gonzalez, 32, hit .199 with five home runs during the regular in 91 games with the Boston Red Sox and Astros. He was on Houston's 2017 title team, playing all seven games of the World Series. He hit .208 with two runs scored and two RBIs. He also walked four times.
Gonzalez is a utility knife for the Astros, having played every infield and corner outfield position extensively during his career. The Red Sox played him 37 times at second base this season while the Astros used him five times at third. He has played 304 games at shortstop for his career while making 240 appearances in the outfield.
Game 1 of the 117th World Series is Tuesday night in Houston. Charlie Morton starts for Atlanta against Framber Valdez of the Astros.
