Elon Musk's Teslas' are in the running to take over the transport of Israel's government officials.
Musk's company, Tesla Inc., has been asked to joint the tender to provide Tesla electric cars to the Israeli government fleet.
"We aren't going to bow to woke trends," a government official told JNS in reference to the decision to invite Tesla Inc., to make a bid." A car is a car is a car. And a great car is a great car is a great car," the official said.
"Teslas are great cars and we look forward to studying their bid," the Israeli official added.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this year defended Musk when he was accused of using a Nazi salute when gesturing to a crowd. There is little doubt it was a wave rather than a salute, however critics piled on to attack Musk, who has been appointed by U.S. President Donald Trump to crack down on government inefficiency through his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
"Elon is a great friend of Israel. He visited Israel after the October 7, massacre in which Hamas terrorists committed the worst atrocity against the Jewish people since the Holocaust," Netanyahu at the time posted on X, which is owned by Musk.
"He has since repeatedly and forcefully supported Israel's right to defend itself against genocidal terrorists and regimes who seek to annihilate the one and only Jewish state," Netanyahu said.
Musk returned the serve with support for the embattled Israeli prime minister who is facing corruption charges, when he claimed the charges against Netanyahu were being orchestrated by the "deep state."
Musk was in the gallery when Netanyahu addressed the joint session of the U.S. Congress last year, after being invited by the Israeli PM.
Israel has decreed that all cars on Israeli roads by 2050 should be electric cars.
