Trevor Story went 2-for-5 with a double, a homer and three RBIs, and the Boston Red Sox held on for an 8-5 win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night in Minneapolis.
Jarren Duran also doubled and homered for Boston, which evened the series at one victory apiece. Ceddanne Rafaela tripled and drove in a run.
Brooks Lee went 3-for-4 with two homers and five RBIs to lead Minnesota.
Red Sox right-hander Lucas Giolito (7-2) allowed one run on five hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out five. Aroldis Chapman fanned Mickey Gasper on three pitches to record the final out of the game and earn his 19th save.
Twins right-hander Pierson Ohl (0-1) allowed four runs on five hits in three innings in his big-league debut. He walked one and fanned four.
The Red Sox pounced on Ohl for four runs in the top of the third.
Roman Anthony started the scoring with an RBI single to center to drive in Rafaela. Alex Bregman doubled in the next at-bat, and Anthony came around to score on a fielding error by Twins left fielder Willi Castro on the play.
Two batters later, Story hit a two-run homer to left-center field to give Boston a 4-0 advantage. The 404-foot blast marked Story's 16th homer.
The Red Sox increased their lead to 5-0 on Duran's solo shot in the fifth. He hammered a fastball 446 feet to center for his 10th long ball of the season.
The Twins got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth. Lee hit an RBI single to score Harrison Bader from second base.
Rafaela delivered a sacrifice fly in the sixth to put the Red Sox on top 6-1.
Minnesota pulled within 6-3 in the seventh. Ryan Jeffers singled to center, and Lee followed with a two-run homer over the wall in center.
The Red Sox tacked on two more runs in the ninth on back-to-back, RBI doubles by Story and Wilyer Abreu to make it 8-3.
The Twins responded with two runs in the bottom of the ninth but could not complete the comeback bid. Jeffers reached on a fielding error by Story, and Lee connected for his second homer of the game, a 360-foot shot to right.
